Slip with a View

Look Ma, no locks, or bridges!  We have reserved a slip at the upscale Elliott Bay Marina for the 2012 Spring / Summer season!  We’ve spent seasons here before and really enjoyed the location and amenities – hopefully we’ll get out sailing on the Sound most weekends!  We may even try sailing the casual Thursday night racing series beginning in June – wanna go?

]]> http://www.leascotia.com/?feed=rss2&p=951 0 Kicking off the 2012 Sailing Season http://www.leascotia.com/?p=938 http://www.leascotia.com/?p=938#comments Mon, 26 Mar 2012 22:46:00 +0000 Lea Scotia http://www.leascotia.com/?p=938 So it took until late March but over the weekend we finally scrubbed the moss off the deck, dug the headsails out of the basement, ran them up the furlers and took Lea Scotia off the dock for a sail – for the 1st time this year!  Our good friend Elliot helped us get the boat ready to go and we had a nice leisurely sail down to Magnuson Park off Sand Point and back to Kenmore.  My parents Mac and Nat came along, their puppy Shadow in tow.

Nothing too exhilarating but we’re excited that the season is here – while the weather is still sketchy, the days are getting longer and we’ll be back in our city slip in Lake Union in just a couple months.  We hope to get out on the Sound in the coming weeks; bring on the sun and wind!

]]> http://www.leascotia.com/?feed=rss2&p=938 0 Fair Weather Sailors http://www.leascotia.com/?p=930 http://www.leascotia.com/?p=930#comments Fri, 16 Mar 2012 22:56:39 +0000 Lea Scotia http://www.leascotia.com/?p=930 I hate to say it but I’m afraid I’m becoming a fair weather sailor.  With Lea Scotia tucked away up in Kenmore on the north end of Lake Washington it’s hard to get motivated to get out for a sail.   I’ve ensured the heater is working and I’ve done some little nav station wiring projects so we could certainly get off the dock.  We’ve been seriously considering heading out this weekend.  Add family colds and flu, rain and high temperatures in the mid-40s and my enthusiasm is waning.   And I still need to get the headsails mounted on the furlers and scrub the green moss that’s becoming evident on the decks.

Maybe next weekend.
